Restarting the SD Free Press, Summer 2005 Issue
Hello there. We are restarting the San Diego Free Press after a long vacation in which we were up to our necks in other kinds of media. There is a ton of news of critical importance happening here in San Diego on a daily basis, and we're going to try to take our media making efforts out of the ether and back into the physical realm. We also plan to have lots of content in the new Free Press en español, since we have been doing serious work on translation for our website.

We're currently planning on covering the following topics in the next issue of the Free Press:

The MinuteMen
Pablo Paredes and War Resisters
Homelessness in San Diego
Student Movements - Budget Cuts and Living Wage
The Border, borderHack

We're hoping to have stories on:

CAFTA
Counter Inaugural Action Summary

The deadlines for this issue, which we're trying to get out asap to get back on our feet is:

Submissions by May 15, 2005
Ads by May 20, 2005
Send to the printers on May 31, 2005

A Rant about Religion and Race!

this is a rant about race and religon and the effects
of the relationships they create with society.


“Why can't we all just get along?” the famous question
coined by Rodney King after he
was brutalized by the L.A.P.D. The spark of the L.A.
Riots when the courts dispensed not guilty verdicts
for the police officers involved.
America is the melting pot of the world for all
races and religions yet the demographics reveal a
different scenario. Whites live where they do, Blacks,
Asians and Latin's typically inhabit various parts of
any major American city by no means a melting pot more
like an assorted dish of chess, olives, noddles, and
chocolate.
Life is a lottery people, no one decides to be born
and not many people pick their religion, just born
with it. Yet, society managed to divide and separate
if not provoke hate amongst the various groups that
comprise the planet's population. No one can
understand why or even how a non-voluntary choice like
race or religion can still get one discriminated
against if not even killed?
So I look at this planet and think wow, what a
messed up place, are you sure there is a God? It sure
as hell doesn't look like it! People hate each other
and it is impossible to force them to love or respect
each other. Therefore; perhaps the road of tolerance
and acceptance be a wrong turn, perhaps hate should be
endorsed and spread if you can't beat them might as
well join them.
The other night in a conversation with a very
wealthy women i pointed out how irresponsible I
thought she was in regard to her divorce and the
Bartender pulled me aside and said “Basim you can't
tell every body who is an idiot that they are an
idiot,” why not I thought. My father tells me to be
more diplomatic and I respond it is the diplomat's job
to either start or prevent a war.
The government is currently paying for people to
write about the positive events in Iraq, but until I
get a pay check the truth will be my duty. Bush is a
complete and utter moron, oh well there goes any
chance for getting a job with him. The Israelites and
Arab's are utterly insane, oh no more job
opportunities down the drain, damn and I wanted to
work in Hollywood:)
O.K. Who' next what else can I mess up? I wish i was
born Latin I love the music, but now that I know how
the world works a white wealthy male would be the most
powerful type of human to be born. The doctrine of
free choice according to the idiot Pat Roberts is a
lie when the most important decision of all was all
ready made for us with out prior knowledge or consent,
who you were born. P.S. I know my grammer sucks
looking for an editor, peace, salam, and shalom....
